The Other Girl Standing Alone

You know the movie scene with the two little girls, usually neighbors, and the one is moving away?  The car pulls out (often a 1980s station wagon) and the blond in pigtails waves sadly as her parents drive away.  The other girl is left standing there alone and crying?

This week I feel like that little girl standing all alone.  My sister-in-law, her husband, and my nephew boarded a plane Tuesday and flew back to the Middle East…where they call home.  And. Oh. How. I. Will. Miss. Them.  They’ll be back in a couple years, but there are too many birthdays, Christmases, and conversations we will miss.  Life eventually becomes normal when they are gone.  It will again.  But it’s just sweeter and better when they are here.

We’ll miss you.
