Ten years ago two kids got married. I remember them well. I didn’t know it at the time but they were both a little naive about marriage…and life. And frankly, they both had some growing up to do (probably more on her part than his.) But I remember they were happy.
The weather was a little crazy that day. It rained all morning but the sun came out just in time for the evening ceremony. It lit up the cool sky and as the last few raindrops fell they created two rainbows above their heads.
I don’t remember much of the day’s events, most of the pastor’s words, or even my vows. But, I distinctly remember those rainbows and as corny as it may sound the promise I saw in them. No matter what the future held, God Himself smiled down on us that night.
I can hardly believe that it’s been ten years. It doesn’t even seem possible. There is so much I would tell the me of ten years ago…but I don’t think I’d have believed it then. I had to live it and I am so glad I did.
Josh, I love you. Here’s to ten more years. I can’t begin to imagine what they hold for us and I am thankful you will be beside me all the way.
