New Beginnings

I love fresh beginnings.  New Starts.  Do Overs.  Maybe it’s because I make so many mistakes but a chance to stop and reevaluate once in a while just does me good.  Like so many others, I am a list maker.  I love writing down all my goals and desires on one clean piece of paper and reading it with the hope that I will figure out a way to achieve it all.  I usually don’t of course, but that’s the great part about a new start.  I can begin again.

Here is some of my list for this year.

Fight harder.  Fight for the things and people I love and I know are important.  Stop worrying about what other people think and stand up for what I know is right.  Hug the people I love even if I don’t think they want a hug.

Simplify.  Stop letting my stuff control me.  It’s so silly that my calendar and junk can take over my life.  Yet they quickly do.  I want to get rid of all that is unnecessary and only have to deal with the items that I use or that make me smile.  That’s it…nothing else.

Plan Ahead.  Why don’t I just pack the lunches the night before?  For goodness sake!  It would make the morning soooo much easier.

Pray on my knees.  Every night.  With all that this world has and all that can go wrong, it’s the only way I can make it.

And, of course, the shallow and persistent request of losing that 15 pounds.  Apparently willing it away isn’t effective and after 5 months of boot camp it’s still hanging on.  I am working on my diet this year.  I have (way too many) allergies and am thinking a gluten free diet might be the way to go for me.  We’ll see.

Here’s a moment from Christmas

morning that just makes me smile.  These two hold my heart in their little hands.
